146) I had a big decision to make with this photo. Do I position the camera in the street and show the Safeway in the background, or do I put the camera on the sidewalk and show the small businesses across the street? Obviously, I went with the latter… not because I have anything against Safeway, but because I didn’t want the camera to get run over.

145) This is an exquisite arty shot that I call “Late for the Line Up.” As you can see, everyone else arrived on time, but here I come, lumbering down Boren, taking my own sweet time.

144) It’s another Box of Opportunity! I’m standing in front of my dentist’s office, a place I’ve been visiting diligently every six months for many, many years. But did I ever notice the mailbox positioned proudly right out front? Nope, not until this morning, that is! It’s good to know that I can just save up all my mailing for six months and take care of it when I come in for my check-ups.
First Hill, Marion St at Boylston Ave
143) As you have figured out by now, I put quite a bit of energy into buzzing all over the Emerald City capturing the blue boxes. So if I find myself in a position to kick back, take a bit of a rest and enjoy some sunshine, well I’m going to do it. The mailbox understood. The mailboxes always understand.

142) Sometimes I go out searching for mailboxes, sometimes the mailboxes find me. Such was the case last night when we went to try a new (to us) pizza place and found this magnificent box standing guard outside. As hungry we were, dinner had to wait until this much more important task was completed. And yes, the pizza that we did eventually eat was good.

141) Bike series (10/10). And with this shot, we bring the latest bike adventure to a close. Interestingly, this particular box wasn’t even on my map… I was gleefully riding away from the U-district and saw the distinctive blue metallic glint shimmer from the side of the street. Do I dare stop and pick up an unplanned box? Yes, I do dare! I do!
University District, NE Pacific St at NE Pacific Place
140) Bike series (9/10). You would never be able to tell from this shot, but I’m sitting in front of one of the top medical facilities in the entire Pacific NW. The UW hospital is behind me, but for some reason they’ve let this strip along the street become overgrown and somewhat shabby. Still, this box is proud to serve the medical community and he’s kind of annoyed that I’m dissing the landscaping.
UW Campus, Grant Lane
139) Bike series (8/10). As you can see from my pose, I’m very excited to discover that this box exists! My data told me that there was a box on Grant Lane on the UW campus, but I wasn’t able to verify its existence by spotting it on Google Streetview. This led me to fear that it wasn’t a real box, but rather just a mailslot inside one of the buildings… but then I rounded the corner and came upon this beautiful vision in blue!
University District, University Ave NE at NE 41st St
138) Bike series (7/10). When you get down below 42nd, it really doesn’t look like the Ave anymore, does it? Do you see any funkiness? I don’t see any funkiness. No used record stores, no pho restaurants, no sandals. Weird.
University District, Roosevelt Ave NE at NE 42nd St
137) Bike series (6/10). I was so happy to find this mailbox! Over the past year, this stretch of Roosevelt has seen a lot of construction, and I had feared that this box had been a casualty of the march-of-progress. But there it was, in all its double-wide glory! I felt it best to celebrate its resilience with some stretching exercises, but it kind of looks like I’m trying to push it over.
